ESP32 OLED Workshop Kit — Live Build-Along Edition

ESP32 OLED Workshop Kit — Live Build-Along Edition A white plastic bag containing an ESP32 + OLED video kit, printed with pink flamingos and a large white instruction sheet, placed on a black cutting mat. Breadboard Half size image 0

$41.95

Everything you need for the live ESP32 + OLED Workshop (Dec 3 & Dec 5) — plus a bonus LED stick, pre-soldered and ready to pop into your breadboard.

This is the Workshop Edition of my ESP32 + OLED Video Kit. Same parts as the video, with one addition: a WS2812B stick of 8 addressable LEDs with right-angle header pins soldered on by me, so there's no soldering needed at your end.

What's in the kit

  • 1 × ESP32 Development Board, 38-pin (USB-C)
  • 1 × OLED 0.96" display, 128×64, I2C (SSD1306) — colour may vary; all work identically
  • 1 × Half-size solderless breadboard (400 tie points)
  • 1 × Hookup wire sampler (8 × mixed)
  • 1 × WS2812B stick of 8 LEDs, pre-soldered right-angle pins (breadboard-ready) white/black
  • Free sticker (random): Japanese, Wasteland, Geek themes!

Bought separately: $42.83 — includes my soldering time on the LED stick.

You'll also need

  • A USB-C data cable — grab our USB-C Data Cable (1m) if you need one
  • A computer with PlatformIO (VS Code) or Arduino IDE

A live, beginner-friendly build-along with me, Christine (CMozMaker), on Zoom. We'll wire up an OLED screen to an ESP32, make it display text and graphics, then connect it to WiFi so you can type messages from your phone straight to the screen.

Details

Launch price: $65. Future workshops will be $75 — you're getting the first-run rate while I iron out any blips.

Choose your session (Atlantic Time)

  • Thursday, December 3 — 7:00pm AST (6pm ET / 3pm PT)
  • Saturday, December 5 — 2:00pm AST (6pm UK / 7pm CET)

Planned length is 2 hours. Please allow up to 2.5 hours in case we need extra setup time.

What we'll build

  • Start a new project from scratch in PlatformIO (VS Code) — or follow along in Arduino IDE if you prefer
  • Wire an OLED display to your ESP32 over I2C
  • Display text, shapes and graphics
  • Connect to WiFi and send messages from your phone to the screen
  • Bonus, if time allows: add a WS2812B LED stick that lights up with your messages

Complete beginner? Perfect. We start from an empty project, and I'll be there to help when something doesn't upload.

Your ticket includes

  • A live 2-hour build-along with real-time help on your wiring and code
  • A 20-minute setup clinic the time before the Zoom or the evening before, depending on who would like this and when suits, to get PlatformIO or Arduino IDE working before the session
  • The session recording to rewatch afterwards
  • All code and slides
  • A 20% off code for my next workshop (only 60$ to attend a $75 workshop!)

Parts

Already have an ESP32 (38-pin) and a 0.96" SSD1306 I2C OLED? Just book a seat. Want everything in one box? Add the Workshop Kit ($41.95) — it includes a bonus LED stick with pins pre-soldered by me. Kits ship worldwide: please order by Nov 12 (international) or Nov 19 (Canada/US).

You'll need a USB-C data cable, a laptop or desktop, and a phone you can join Zoom on as a second camera (I'll explain in the setup email).

Good to know

  • Sessions run with a minimum of 5 people. I'll confirm by Nov 19. If yours doesn't run, you can switch sessions or get a full ticket refund. Your kit is yours to keep (it works with the free YouTube tutorial), or return it within 30 days.
  • Seats are limited to 10 per session so everyone gets help.
  • Sessions are recorded for attendees only.

Giving it as a gift? Add a note at checkout with the recipient's name and email and I'll send the joining details to them.
