This is a great pack to help you understand different interfacing weights and try them on your fabrics without having to buy all the different types.
Interfacing is used to:
- Add stability to a fabric
- Help stop fraying
- Add crispness and structure
Vlieseline interfacing is what you should look for when making something as a more integrated prototype. It is very high quality and provides consistent, reliable stability.
This pack contains iron-on fusible interfacing. You can also buy sew-in and stretch interfacing if the iron-on type isn’t suitable for your wearable.
These samples are a great learning opportunity to experiment with the effects these materials have on different fabrics.
What’s Included
4 pieces, approximately 8" × 10" (A4~) each:
- Lightweight — thin interfacing, great for adding minimal strength while allowing the fabric to still move freely
- Medium — adds structure and rigidity, gives fabrics strength
- Heavy — adds significant structure and rigidity for more demanding applications
- Fusible fleece — a thick but soft ‘bulking’ quilting-style interfacing; adds softness and a luxurious feel, great for change purses, pouches, and padded surfaces
- Lightweight white spread glue
- Heavyweight white spread glue
- Heat & Bond fusible fleece interfacing
- Washable and sewable
How to Apply
- Use a warm, dry iron.
- Place the shiny side of the interfacing (the glue side) against the wrong side of your fabric.
- Cover with a light dry cloth.
- Press down with a medium-hot iron and hold for 15–20 seconds.
- Lift and check if it has bonded.
- Repeat if necessary.
Use these samples to experiment with how interfacing affects different fabrics — a great way to understand where you need additional support in your wearables. Usually available in black, white, and grey.
